Data we collect

Newsletter subscribers: email address and language preference. Optionally, the pillar tag of the page from which they subscribed (used for content segmentation only). We do not collect names, phone numbers, addresses, or financial information.

Visitors to the website: anonymised page-view counts, referring source, country, browser type, and outbound link clicks. We do not use cookies, IP-address tracking, or fingerprinting. Analytics are processed by a self-hosted Plausible Community Edition instance under our control.

How we use it

Email addresses are used solely to deliver the newsletter you opted into and to confirm changes you request. Analytics data is used to understand which topics are useful and where our editorial focus should sit. We do not profile individual readers, do not merge analytics with newsletter data, and do not sell or share data with advertisers.

Where it is stored and processed

Newsletter subscriptions are processed by Beehiiv (a US provider operating under standard contractual clauses for EU/UK transfers). Editorial content is stored in Sanity (EU dataset). Hosting and edge delivery is provided by Vercel. Analytics are processed on our self-hosted Plausible Community Edition instance running in the EU.

Cookies and tracking

We do not set cookies for marketing, advertising, or analytics. The only client-side persistence is a strictly necessary preference for the locale switcher. We do not embed third-party trackers.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, to request a portable export, and to withdraw newsletter consent at any time. Newsletter unsubscribe links work immediately. For other requests, contact the editorial team using the details on the imprint page; we respond within 30 days.

Updates to this policy

Material changes are announced in the newsletter and dated at the top of this page. Minor clarifications are made silently.
